As the sun peeked through the hotel room curtains, David and I finally woke up around 0730. After nine days of early rises, it felt indulgent to sleep in a little longer. We made our way down for breakfast, stopping by Koby and Doug's room to see if they cared to join us. The dining area was filled with the comforting aromas of fresh coffee and baked goods, making it the perfect start to our final day.

After breakfast, we all packed our belongings, a bittersweet reminder that our incredible journey was coming to an end. With everything stowed away, we lounged by the pool, soaking up the sun and reliving our favorite moments from the trip. Laughter filled the air as we shared stories and made plans to keep in touch, cherishing the bonds we’d formed.

Reflecting on the trip, I realized just how extraordinary it had been. Climbing Mount Kilimanjaro was the highlight, an achievement that felt exhilarating. Reaching Uhuru Peak at 19,341 feet was indescribable; the views were breathtaking, and the sense of accomplishment was profound. On Day 1, I had some doubts—wondering if I could really make it to the top. But our guides were phenomenal, encouraging us with their chants of “Pole, pole” (slowly, slowly) and "Sippy, sippy - water for life", which truly helped us persevere.

Summit night was the toughest challenge I’ve ever faced in my entire life. I had to remind myself to focus on just one step at a time, breaking the ascent down into manageable chunks. This lesson in tackling overwhelming challenges will stick with me: when faced with a big problem, break it down into smaller, achievable parts. While success isn’t guaranteed every time, I know it’s a strategy that will serve me well.

This journey also reminded me of the importance of balance in life. Sometimes, I get too caught up in the daily grind. I need to remember to relax, enjoy life, and cherish time with family and friends. There were moments during this trip when I thought about throwing in the towel, but I’m so grateful that my wife and daughter encouraged me to embark on this adventure. Looking back, I’m glad I didn’t give up.

As we wrapped up our time together, I felt a mix of gratitude and nostalgia. This trip was filled with challenges and triumphs, and I wouldn’t trade the experience for anything.

NO REGRETS!
